Mabou Blooms

About

Mabou is a village on the western side of Cape Breton known for its pristine beauty.  We are often told "Mabou is a village that looks like everyone cares for it".  The Mabou & District Community Development Association (MDCDA) is asking for your help to keep Mabou beautiful.  Mabou Gardens is continuing to support the flower planting and maintenance program, but the additional costs and up keep of the flowers and bench sites is burdensome on a charity organization with very limited revenue.

We all agree as to the quality the flowers add to our Village landscape from June until October, please help us accomplish this!

About Bessie's Blooms 2017

Our fundraising initiative in 2017 was known as Bessie's Blooms in loving honour of Elizabeth "Bessie" (Rankin) MacDonald 1939 - 2015.  Bessie MacDonald was rooted in Mabou, and although she lived in Ashland MA, Bessie's roots did not wither. She was proud of her hometown community of Mabou- not only of its beauty but of its people and she was always known for her willingness to lend a hand to those in need. Bessie touched many people with her kind, generous heart and her quick wit and it seemed fitting that we remember her kind spirit by keeping Mabou, a place that she loved, beautiful from year to year.
